Rehoming Tama

2023-11-29 Dog License Demands

Tracy Judd, Animal Management Officer of Buller District Council came to tell me my dog licenses are way over due. Well I know that, but the fact is i want a refund of infringement fees taken by Christchurch animal control consequent to malevolent allegations. I also want compensation for my costs in going there to defend myself in court. Buller District animal control equally threatened infringement fees for alleged "complaints" and that then forced me to spend money on recording equipment to record everything so that i can prove innocense when falsely accused.

In my opinion this visit today is nothing to do with animal welfare. Buller district provide nothing for us dog owners here and their dog licenses are just an inexcusable protection racket with recurring ransom demands.

Simple fact however, is that I can't even afford to feed my dogs given escalating cost here, so I agreed to her rehoming Tama even though I love him to pieces, he loves me and we will really miss each other.

Tama

tummy tickle

Tama is a very friendly and affectionate dog. He cuddles up to me at night and loves having his tummy tickled. He is past the stage of chewing my things now. He likes swimming and stays clean.

odd one out

Tama was born on 9th December 2021 to a litter of 8 New Zealand heading dogs. He was the odd one out having gold as well the traditional black and white of their collie heritage. I found a new home twice, but he was returned for being too demanding.

Tama has been neutered, but is protective of our home. He barks at every threat, which I wanted him to, because we were targeted with hate crimes in Christchurch. None the less, Tama does not bark when we are out. He mostly ignores other people and their dogs, but probably would defend himself if physically attacked.

Needs

run free
run free

Tama is a high energy dog. He needs several hours of intensive exercise every day. He loves running free on the beach with my other dogs. Just walking on the lead is no use to him. He also craves a mental challenge and loves chasing rabbits. Tama will fetch sticks thrown in the estuary, but the ocean here is too rough for him. I suspect he would like agility training if there were a suitable dog park.

I'm here, ready and waiting!

Tama comes to me, sits at my feet, looking up as if to say... "well are we going to do something then?" He needs a one-on-one trainer and has done this ever since he was a tiny puppy! I was planning to train him as a sheep dog but Māyā, his daughter, wants training too and I'm not a sheep farmer.

Habitat

My dogs all love walking in nature but practically every walk round here is on DOC land where they are not allowed regardless if on the lead.

Some asshole authority dropped 1080 poison on the only ones we were allowed, but in desperation I took them walking there again after checking there was none on the path. I am however very disappointed and determined to get out of this toxic Hell hole that was seriously misrepresented to me after I was run out of my home in Christchurch with a barage of slander and false accusations.

If anyone can find Tama a suitable loving home somewhere there are facilities he needs, then that would be best for him. OTOH, the people round here seem to think one should kick dogs to make them be silent and drag them round on a lead dominate them with fear and coersion to show everyone what a "responsible dog owner" they are. Adding to that total lack of amenities for dogs, Karamea is not the right habitat for Tama.

If YOU would like to welcome Tama into your home to be your best friend you can post on the Diqus forum of this page (I get notifcations). You can also phone or text me: 028 851 64610 ... and yes i know there are plenty of sad assholes who will abuse that number in this sad 21st century.

I can bring Tama to you on the South Island here as we plan to go travelling... well... TBH we likely be homeless soon and living in the car, but whatever! If it doesn't work for you I'll come get him back again, because i know I'll miss him.
