Recently had helicopters buzzing around dropping 1080 poison all over the nature reserves that are controlled by department of conservation. They were doing the same just two years ago. The link here opens a documentary in a separate window that explains with a video what the issues are with dropping this controversial poison in our environment.

New Zealand is one of the very few countries, that uses this kind of pest control and over the years I've seen a lot of "ban 1080" graffiti adorning signs and even rock walls along the road. This isn't vandalism, but genuine outrage from people who care.

Ban 1080 protests have been going on for years. Phil Hyde has several on his Youtube channel and my Youtube macro will currently still open it in a side window.

I had a discussion on Grok and someone pointed out that DoC claim to have had great success at protecting native bird species with the poison drops.

Grok's reply is rather lengthy, and i can no longer pop it up in a side window due to said alleged security restrictions, so you'll just have to follow the link and then use the browser's back button (not the grok back arrow) if you want to come back here.

Now these days my link macro doesn't open documents in a side window like it used to. "security concerns" are alleged, although some sites (like the one at the top) still do. My macros to align images on the same row malfunctions and other things fail too.
After discusssing potential work arounds with grok. I've decided it's just not the same and most of my site is broken in consequence. I am reminded of why I quit using it in the first place: Sick to death of forever chasing my own tail trying to patch round evolving "web standards". I'm not going down that road again!

Public campaigning against 1080? I just can't be bothered anymore! Nothing's going to change due to self appointed autocrats in charge. I gather that most of them have vested interests or recieve sponsorship from people and organisations who do.
I do however strongly object to the poison because it's a cruel death and toxic cadavers washing up on the shores put my dogs at risk. I'm also pissed off with the fact I'm not even allowed to walk my dogs on a leash in nature reserves. So there is simp[ly nowhere to go at all other than round the block with my companions on a leash.
Why should I continue paying regional rates that fund all thier crap when they provide nothing for us to enjoy? THEY CAN GET FUCT for all I care.
